Freedom from addiction is not a single step process. In some cases it is not even a 12 Step Program, but a complicated series of events in an addict’s life. Some addictions require pharmacological intervention during the withdrawal and detoxification that comes with the decision to stop taking a drug or ingesting alcohol. Other addictions are not tied to a substance dependency and therefore do not require such a comprehensive list as would someone who is about to take that journey away from opiates.
However, typically the stages of treatment are dependent upon the type of treatment the individual enrolls in:
- Medical detox
- In-Patient Rehab
- Residential Treatment
- Short Term Treatment
- Long Term Treatment
- Outpatient Treatment
A medical detox, for example, would have stages of treatment that looked something like this: intake, physical and diagnosis, withdrawal under medical supervision, nutritional and supplement support, physical and diagnosis, check out and/or transfer.
In-Patient Rehab and Residential Treatment Programs contain the same initial methodology as a medical detox, but also provide continuing treatment and therapy for the individual.
